RAYMONDA & JEAN / mustafah abdulaziz

Summer love in New York City.
It’s warm breezes on bare skin and long days spent outdoors. It is the stillness of a room where lovers sleep on humid sheets.
But all this heat can’t stop the coming winter when 20 million people return to solitude.
By luck, or foresight, or compulsion Mustafah Abdulaziz photographed the arc of this love story with Ida Morin.  Who with winter returned to her native Sweden.
Through them we experience the excitement of new love, the stress and isolation of a long distance relationship, and the singular devotion that drives you to find each other again.

A chance encounter at 17 with “In The American West” and the idea of visually transporting a viewer into the intimate lives of strangers left a strong impression on photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz. His work explores social identification and how our ideas of self representation create instances of cultural disconnect. He has been a member of the international photography collective MJR since 2008.
